ONLINE VIDEO PIANO LESSONS FOR CHILDREN FROM 3 TO 103!
LESSON NINEThis lesson introduces musical whole and half steps, then proceeds to show students how they can move songs around on the piano using the pattern of whole and half steps. Understanding whole and half steps is important. However, moving songs - transposition - is not something every piano student needs to be able to do.
The first song moved (Moving Songs)is Hot Cross Buns, a 3 note song consisting totally of musical whole steps. The next video (Gransposing 5 Key Songs)shows how to move a 5 key song, which is quite a bit more complicated.
The transposing parts of this lesson are of most interest to those students who ask, "When do we get to play on the black keys?" Some students will be extremely interested in moving their songs around and others will not be interested in the least. Again, this is not something that needs to be learned...just a cool thing to do. What IS important is continuing to learn songs on the app - learning them to the point of being able to play them from memory.
